Sexual Function

Abuse - Physical and Sexual:

Our therapy helps locate, treat, and eliminate the physical pain and dysfunction associated with physical and sexual abuse. We understand the deep scarring that occurs from abuse and have successfully treated many severe cases.

Early Surgery, CAH:

Surgery to correct the effects of congenital adrenal hyperplasia can leave scarring and adhesions that cause pain and dysfunction. We are experts in treating post-surgical vaginal and pelvic adhesions. Our work in this area began over 20 years ago, when our director began her search for relief from her own post-surgical vaginal and pelvic adhesions.

Genital Mutilation:

Adhesions and scar tissue form after female circumcision, also known as female genital mutilation (FGM). These vaginal and pelvic adhesions can cause a lifetime of severe pain and dysfunction. We have successfully treated many victims of FGM for painful intercourse, severe pelvic pain, and sexual dysfunction.

Intercourse Pain:

Up to a third of US women suffer from painful intercourse. Our therapy has been remarkably effective treating painful sex, with published peer-reviewed citations showing decreased or eliminated pain in more than 90% of participants.

Decreased Desire, Lubrication, and Orgasm - Female Sexual Dysfunction:

Adhesions can form anywhere in the female reproductive tract causing painful intercourse, and decreased or absent sensation, desire, arousal, lubrication, or orgasm. Our therapy has been shown to improve female sexual function in peer-reviewed medical journals.
